Pre-owned Rolex GMT-Master II ref 116718 (2015) marks an important turning point for the GMT lineup. Introduced in 2005, it was one of the first GMT-Master II models to feature Rolex’s ceramic Cerachrom bezel, marking the brand’s shift away from the aluminum inserts that had defined the watch for decades. The earliest version debuted with a green anniversary dial, but Rolex soon followed it with more traditional configurations like the black dial seen here. Crafted entirely in 18k yellow gold, the watch has a strong presence on the wrist. The 40mm case is paired with a matching yellow gold Oyster bracelet and a black ceramic bezel engraved with the 24-hour scale. Ceramic was a major upgrade at the time, with far better resistance to scratches and fading compared to the older aluminum inserts. The dial keeps the classic GMT layout with a fourth hand for tracking a second time zone and a date display at 3 o’clock beneath the Cyclops lens.
